Should Goats be alone? Goats are herding animals. It simply means that they like to live in groups. You can raise only one goat, but it is highly recommended to keep at least 2 goats. You can allow your horses to smell your goats but be sure that you are holding your goat in your arms. It is also important to give your horses enough time to completely adjust to goat’s noise.

Once you feel and observe that your horses have become accustomed to your goats, put a leash on your goat and carry it in your arms to the horse so the horse can smell the goat again.

Put your goat on the ground and if the horse is calm, let your goat slowly approach the horse. When your horse has completely adjusted, you can let your goat roam free together with the horse but keep an eye on them.

Your goats can get snarled up in wire or their heads caught in fencing. Nails are also a danger to your goats especially if they step on it, so make sure to keep your backyard safe and clean.

Dogs

Dogs are considered to be one of the dangers to your goats. Most of the time dogs chase and attack the goats. When you are raising goats, make sure that you don’t have dogs in your backyard. Dogs can cause death and injury to your goats.

The water troughs of horse are a great danger to baby goats as they may jump in and sometimes drown. If the level of your water troughs is over the head of your baby goats, have it fenced off from your goats.
