How to get rid of scorpions Naturally.
Get rid of scorpions Naturally. Scorpions are pests to say the least, but this pest can really put a hurt on you. That is why it is important to get rid of them, or at least as many of them as possible. Lets look at natural ways to get rid of scorpions.
First take a walk around your property and look for places that scorpions would like to live. They like dark places, so look for cracks in walls, rubble piles, and things of that nature. Once you have identified the hideouts, eliminate them.
Seal up cracks with caulking. Clean up your yard or at least the areas closest to the house and places you will be working. You will not be able to get rid of all the spots they like to hide.
Try to make the area unappealing to the scorpions and bugs the scorpions feed on. If they have nothing to eat they will go where there is food.
Drive Away Scorpions
I have read that scorpions do not like citrus, so consider planting some citrus in the yard. Another plant that is said to keep the scorpions at bay, is lavender. I have seen this work at a friends house.
If you do not plan on adding any plants to detour scorpions, then get some essential oils, you can get them in lavender and in citrus. Take some of the oil and put it on to pads, you can make your own pads by cutting sponges. Then place the sponge with oil in it near any entrances where bugs my find their way into your home.
You can also try to create a barrier around your house with Diatomaceous earth, DE will cut into the exoskeleton and cause them to die. I did a write up on DE here is a link to it.
You can also try sprinkling some ground cinnamon around I hear it is a pretty good deterrent also. So instead of sprinkling poison all around consider trying ground cinnamon instead.
Chickens Will Eat Scorpions
The next line of defense is to bring in some of our furry little friends. It is much nicer to live with a cat than it is to live with creepy crawlies. Cats have a natural tendency to eat the little bugs we don’t like to have around.
Another critter to form an alliance with would be, our friend the chicken. Chickens are great at eating bugs, and they turn them into yummy eggs. Very easy to keep and they work cheap. Not only will a chicken eat bugs the scorpions eat, they will eat the scorpions themselves.
The final resort is a good ol’ fashioned bug hunt, call me crazy but I don’t think its a bad choice. Arm your self with a black light, and a sturdy pair of boots.
When you shine a black light across a scorpion it glows like crazy. After you have located the scorpion with your black light, use the boot. I am sure you can figure out how to use the boot to eliminate a bug.
If that is not enough and you decide you need a spray click here to be sure that scorpion bite doesn’t come back.
