Homestead the Desert About Us

Our website is dedicated to helping those that are just starting out in homesteading. We created this blog based on our personal experience in homesteading. We believe that living off the land along with raising farm animals can provide a self-sustained existence. It was not long ago that most people lived off the land and today we are showing that it can still be done.

Who We Are

I am a retail store manager at a farm and ranch store. My wife is a medical professional and our children are still in school. We are a family that is trying our hand at farming, ranching, and general homesteading. We have learned a considerable amount about homesteading thanks to our collective experience. One of the biggest lessons is that we accomplish the tasks together as a team. Teamwork is the vital element when it comes to getting things done around our home.

We raise chickens, pigs, ducks, cows, goats, and some animals that are not meant for food. It’s not quite everything we need, but we are getting closer all the time to being self-sustaining. There is a real feeling of satisfaction when it comes to

When you consider that my wife and I have full time jobs and our kids are still in school, getting things done around our place requires a higher level of teamwork and cooperation. It is also the contribution of my entire family that makes our homestead efforts worthwhile and productive. It takes a lot of work, but the return is so worth the effort thanks to my family pulling together.

What We Do

Our blog is dedicated to sharing with you our experiences along with others about how homesteading works. We started from scratch and want to share the information we have learned so that you can benefit from our experience.
